WMUR’s Weekend Evening Anchor, Kria Sakakeeny to Perform in The Nutrcracker at the Palace Theatre
Bedford, NH – Kria Sakakeeny, weekend evening anchor and a weekday reporter for WMUR-TV 9 to perform as Mother Ginger in The Nutcracker at the Palace Theatre Thanksgiving Weekend.
Southern NH Dance Theater’s production of The Nutcracker is based on the story by E.T.A. Hoffman and music by Pytor Ilyich Tchaikovsky. To add to the magic of this holiday classic, The Palace Festival Orchestra will once again accompany Southern NH Dance Theater (SNHDT) lead by conductor Robert Babb. The audience will enjoy Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece as it was intended, with the power and vigor of a live orchestra. SNHDT has lined up several local celebrities again this year to perform the character role of Mother Ginger in Act 2. Past Mother Ginger celebrities include The Union Leader’s John Clayton and WZID’s very own Mike Morin. “We are so excited that Kria Sakakeeny will join our celebrity cast this year, “stated Trisha Lavoie, artistic director for Southern NH Dance Theater. “She has a very strong dance background so she is a very welcome addition and the other cast members in the production can’t wait to perform with her,” added Lavoie.
Kria Sakakeeny will perform the role in the Saturday, November 28th 11:00 am performance.
Mike Morin will return to the stage as Mother Ginger in two performances – Friday, November 27th and Saturday, November 28th evening shows.
Not familiar with the storyline of The Nutcracker? Well, look for Kria Sakakeeny, larger than life with a face full of make-up and a huge hoop skirt that hides a handful of adorable polichinelle dancers. Want more? You’ll just have to come to one of the shows to watch it all unfold on stage.
