Looking for a tasty adventure this weekend? Check out the popular 13th Annual Inn to Inn Cookie and Candy Tour. This Mount Washington Valley event features all of the delicious holiday favorites including gingerbread displays, recipe cards and collectors ornaments. And yes, of course, there are plenty of cookies and sweet treats along the way.
The 13th annual Inn to Inn Cookie & Candy Tour takes place on Saturday, December 12 and Sunday, December 13 and 15 country inns in the White Mountains are ready to open their doors to the area’s biggest sweet tooths. This year’s hours are from 11am - 4pm each day.
With a “Holidays Inn New England” theme, participants will not only tour inns decked in all their holiday finery offering signature decorations, holiday cookies and candies, but once again this year they’ll be treated to a display of beautiful handmade gingerbread sculptures, collector’s ornaments and recipe collections from each inn. Chosen by editors of New Hampshire Magazine as “The Best Sugar High”, here’s one chance to participate in the ultimate cookie walk. Best of all, proceeds from the event benefit area nonprofit associations.
Each of the 15 inns will feature original holiday cookies and candies, along with exquisite decorations offering tour goers the bonus of taking home holiday decorating ideas as well as scrumptious cookies and candies for themselves. The participating inns have developed original recipes for everything from sweet to savory holiday treats, with each inn featuring new recipes for this year’s tour. Additionally, tour participants visiting all 15 properties will receive a keepsake brass collector’s ornament, intended to be the fourth in a collection of Cookie Tour ornaments to be distributed in years hereafter. To top it off, tour goers will take home recipes for the treats featured on the tour, creating a keepsake collection of tested holiday cookies and candy recipes to use at home.
Once again this year, Country Inns in the White Mountains will continue their gingerbread house display. Local businesses will be recruited to create gingerbread sculptures in honor of their favorite non-profit organization, and each year the results are exquisite. Participating businesses will either internally create these sculptures or recruit artists, school groups, chefs or bakers to construct their gingerbread sculpture for the contest. Tour goers will then vote for their favorite, and the winning sculptures will receive $500, $350 or $250 donations for the non-profit organization the sculpture represents. In years past, these gingerbread houses have then been auctioned off to create additional donations for the participating non-profits.
The tour stretches from Harts Location, to Chocorua, NH and over to Fryeburg, ME, with fourteen inns opening their doors to those in search of a fabulous holiday treats. No inn is more than fifteen minutes from the next, with many much closer.
Tour tickets are available in advance by reserving a lodging package from participating inns, and this is the best way to secure a ticket for a weekend of cookie, candy and gingerbread fun. Those not wishing to reserve an overnight package may purchase tickets for $27 per person by calling 800-233-8309 or 603-383-9339. Tickets reserved by phone will be available for pick up at designated pick up locations. Tickets are limited. Any unreserved tickets will be sold for $27 per person on the day of the event at the 1785 Inn, Admiral Peary House, Notchland Inn and Riverbend Inn.
