Want to help with monitoring our local rivers?
Friday, August 20, 2010
The Souhegan Watershed Association needs volunteers to help with the water quality monitoring program on the Souhegan and Merrimack Rivers. Volunteers will be trained and then take samples from their designated site every other Tuesday morning between 6-8am beginning in June and running through September. Sampling at the site generally takes about 30 minutes. Sites in Greenville, Amherst, Milford, and Merrimack on the Souhegan River and Merrimack, Manchester, and Bedford on the Merrimack River especially need volunteers. The entire length of the Souhegan and the stretch from Manchester to Tyngsborough on the Merrimack is monitored. Substitutes for vacationing samplers and drivers to shuttle samples are also needed and welcomed. Contact coordinator Karen Mattor at karenmattor@gmail.com or George May at georgemay@comcast.net for more information or questions.
