The Sweet Tea Picnic is a celebration of the bygone era of community outings. It includes a day of country, Americana, and old time music; as well as a chance to snack and drink some sweet tea in the old fashioned way. On Saturday, August 3rd from 1:00PM to 6:00PM, will provide live music throughout the day; all of who specialize in early country, string music, Americana and roots music. Unless it’s an original song, you can pretty much reckon it’ll be something that was written prior to 1970; unless it meets our exacting standards of what makes for a good song. The event will be all natural music; neither PAs nor un-required electronics will be messin’ with these dulcet tones.
Guests are invited to come have some traditional picnic foods (offered by Keene Community Kitchen), bring a dish to share and a hankerin’ to hear songs from back when the music was really good. Sweet tea and snacks will be provided. Families are surely welcomed to attend.
All profits from this show will go towards renovation and care of the Sumner Knight Chapel and the Keene Community Kitchen. As an added bonus, you can get a discount on your admission of $1 for every canned good you bring to donate to the Keene Community Kitchen (maximum $3).
