Local residents turn cabin fever into spring fever with the 9th annual “Greenfield Farms Goes Green” event scheduled for Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 11 am until 1 pm.
Every year, the snow melts to reveal all the litter and trash that built up over the winter on roadsides and common lands. As warmer temperatures prompt you to throw open the windows and spring clean your own home, residents of Greenfield Farms, Windstone, and Cabot’s Preserve will be heading outdoors to do a bit of spring cleaning of their own. Neighbors, adults and children alike, will clean up the litter and beautify the communities they call home.
This has been an annual tradition for Greenfield Farms neighbors, and this year, they will be joined by residents from Windstone and Cabot’s Preserve who will be cleaning up their areas. Prizes for the most unusual trash discoveries will be awarded. There will be hamburgers and hot dogs on hand to serve lunch to all the hungry volunteers.
Northeast Record Retention, will have a collection truck on site for residents who want a secure way to destroy sensitive, personal documents. This year’s event introduces a battery recycling initiative. Residents who drop off old batteries for recycling will receive new batteries. Other event sponsors include Energy North Propane, Rain Maker Irrigation, Outdoor Pride Landscaping, and Kerri Crowley of Keller Williams Metropolitan Realty.
This event is a great way for teen students to obtain community service hours. Event organizers will be on hand to sign school forms attesting to the service hours worked. Kids who volunteer can enter a drawing for a Dunkin Donuts gift card.
“Greenfield Farms Goes Green” is a wonderful event to preserve and protect the community we call home and to celebrate Earth Day. If you want to save the Earth, start with your neighborhood!
For questions about this year’s event, please contact committee chair, Andrea Chatfield, at 471-9041. The rain/snow date for this event is May 9th, 2015.
