Holiday and seasonal events happening all over New Hampshire
It’s that wonderful time of year again, when holiday festivities are being planned in every corner of New Hampshire. A sampler of the fun to be found follows.
Traditionally Yours
The long tradition of holiday festivities continues in the pretty mountain town of Jackson with visits from Santa, holiday open houses, art gallery sales and shows, cooking demonstrations and workshops, a sleigh ride chocolate tour, tree lighting, carolers and much more. The Traditionally Yours celebration will be held Nov. 27-28 and Dec. 5-6.

Winter Celebration
Music, story-telling, craft demonstrations and museum tours are part of this festive holiday event at the Mount Kearsarge Indian Museum in Warner on Nov. 28-29. You’ll also love the museum’s gift shop, replete with unique items made by Native Americans from throughout the country.

Santa Express Trains
In Lincoln, Santa will visit each family and has a gift for each child on special train rides aboard the Hobo Railroad on Nov. 27-28 and Dec. 5-6, 12-13 and 19-20. Holiday cookies and hot chocolate add warmth and cheer. Later, take in the Lincoln Village Shops.

Santa’s Holiday Express
Santa can also be found aboard Conway Scenic Railroad’s Valley Train out of North Conway with a surprise in his bag for each child. After your ride, plan to enjoy all the specialty and outlet shopping for which North Conway is famous. Train rides are offered Nov. 27-29 and Dec. 5-6, 12-13 and 19-20.

Santa’s Village
Santa’s Village in Jefferson is, of course, the ultimate holiday experience. Here, you’ll find Santa, his elves and reindeer along with holiday lights galore and your favorite rides Nov. 27-29 and Dec. 5-6, 12-13, 19-20 and 27-29. There’s even a special holiday show in the Polar Players Theater.

Lighted Winter Wonderland
Thousands of lights illuminate the Charmingfare Farm’s festively decorated trails in Candia as families enjoy a 30-minute horse-drawn evening ride and meet Frosty, the Grinch, Christmas Bear, Church Mouse and other favorite friends. There’s a visit with Santa and live reindeer, as well. The farm turns its lights on Dec. 4-6, 11-13, 18-20, 22-24, 26-27 and 30-31.

Christmas at Canterbury
Canterbury Shaker Village is aglow with hundreds of luminaria Dec. 5 and 12 from 3-8 p.m. at this festive event that includes the annual Gingerbread Showcase, musical performances, magic and puppet shows, horse-drawn sleigh and wagon rides, craft demonstrations, food treats and a museum store replete with unique gifts.

Candlelight Stroll
Strolling through 350 years of New England life is especially magical during this annual celebration when Strawbery Banke Museum’s quaint lanes are aglow with luminaria and its historic homes festively decorated. Alluring scents and sounds of the holiday season fill the air, as well. The stroll in Portsmouth will be held Dec. 5-6, 12-13 and 19-20.

Destination New London
Christmas in New London festivities Dec. 10-13 include welcoming Santa, a tree lighting ceremony on the green, a decorating contest and specialty shopping in this pretty Sunapee region town.
Inn-to-Inn Cookie Tour
The Country Inns in the White Mountains put on this annual tour Dec. 12-13, which allows you to visit a variety of inns decked out in holiday finery while also sampling some fabulous holiday cookies. Receive a collection of the cookies you taste, and get decorating ideas from talented innkeepers. Participating inns offer lodging packages, many with free tickets to the tour.

Holiday Fun at the Rocks
Owned and operated by the Forest Society, the 1,400-acre Rocks Estate Christmas Tree Farm in Bethlehem, with its abundance of cut-your-own Christmas trees (plus panoramas of the snow-capped Presidential Range), is a getaway not to be missed during the holiday season.
Other festivities here include the new “Rocks Marketplace” featuring 40 New Hampshire artisans, a great gift shop, dog sled and horse-drawn wagon rides (by reservation), plus a green Father Christmas, who will gift children with tree seedlings. Festivities continue through Dec. 20.
