Gunstock Adaptive gears up for 5th Annual Party on the Snow
Monday, December 28, 2009
Gilford – Gunstock Adaptive will hold its annual one-day fundraising event on Saturday, March 12. The Gunstock Adaptive Ski Teams will gather in costumes at Gunstock Mountain Resort and get ready for a day of fun to support the non-profit program.
Gunstock Adaptive is a non-profit organization providing quality on snow activities at Gunstock Mountain in Gilford NH. People with special needs come from all over New England and beyond to enjoy a day on the snow with friends and family. The program provides disabled people equipment and instruction of skiing, snowboarding, and other winter activities.
Once a year, Gunstock holds a one-day fundraising event called Party on the Snow. Teams of people gather donations from friends, families, and businesses in support of the program. Last year Party on the Snow had 20 teams with a goal to raise $10,000. After a day of winter fun, the total was nearly double the goal.
What are the donations used for? Gunstock Adaptive uses the donations to increase the quality of the program and monies are used to buy new equipment or rehab the old. Scholarships are also given to Adaptive students in need of help.
Participating teams who come to the Party on The Snow should expect to have a full day of fun and games. Each participant receives a special gift and Party on The Snow provides for Breakfast/Lunch and Dinner for participants as well. Team members ski and ride Gunstock Mountain from 8:30 am to 10 pm and activities include: a NASTAR course, tubing is on a lift serviced set of trails and an awards ceremony where winners are acknowledged. After the awards ceremony, a rock and roll band plays for hours of dancing.
This year Gunstock Adapative has set a goal to receive $25,000 in donations. This event is open to the public and all are encouraged to participate.
