New Balsams owner says resort renovation on hold

Friday, May 4, 2012

DIXVILLE NOTCH, N.H. (AP) - The new owners of the Balsams Grand Resort say a planning board decision is stalling a planned renovation of the northern New Hampshire resort.

Co-owner Dan Hebert says the Colebrook Planning Board approved three of four subdivision plans but has requested an environmental impact statement, engineering and cost analysis, and a bond related to the fourth proposed subdivision.

WMUR-TV (http://bit.ly/K5FCEB ) reports that Balsams View, the owners of the resort, says the project will be delayed for at least a month and worries that it could be permanently disrupted because of the short construction season.

An auction of furniture, a ski chair lift, antiques, a fire hose and other items is still scheduled to take place on May 12.
