Part of Route 38 in Salem to close three nights for construction
Friday, May 4, 2012
SALEM – A portion of Route 38 will close three nights next week as the state demolishes a bridge over Interstate 93 northbound.
The work will require part of Route 38 – also known as Lowell Road – to be closed from 9 p.m.-5 a.m. Monday through Wednesday. The section closed will be between Stiles Road and South Policy Street.
Motorists will be detoured along Stiles Road, Pelham Road and South Policy Street. Additional one-way alternating traffic on this stretch of roadway is expected from 7-9 p.m., with some delays.
The area will remain accessible to local residents and businesses. Uniformed officers and traffic control devices will be used to slow, direct and assist motorists around the work zone.
This work is part of the $30.5 million I-93 widening and reconstruction project in the vicinity of Exit 1. The general contractor is Middlesex Corp. of Littleton, Mass.
