Overview
Greenville was incorporated in 1872 after it split from the Town of Mason. Once alternately known as “Mason Village,” Greenville is located at the “High Falls” portion of the Souhegan River. In its early days the river provided for a prosperous industrial area – some of the first in New Hampshire. The town once had a Boston & Maine Railroad trestle, as well as a railroad depot. The depot remains, but the trestle was taken down for safety reasons. Greenville was also once home to the Columbian Manufacturing Company, which made textiles in the 1800s.
