Monday, August 26, 2013
Have you checked out one of New Hampshire's farmer's markets lately, or ever? With many spread across the Granite State, there is plenty of fresh, local produce and vegetables to go around. But farmer's markets are so much more than produce! The new Farmer's Market Page on NH.com is your resource for New Hampshire area farmer's markets!
New Hampshire farmer's markets are really more like community events. Most market events feature live, local music and other entertainment. These markets offer a great venue to sit and enjoy a great breakfast or lunch while shopping and catching a show with family or friends.
Farmer's market foods range widely from the fresh, local produce you would expect, to some unexpected tasty comestibles! Locally grown fruits, veggies, and eggs abound at nearly all markets. The Fresh Chicks Farmers' Marketplace in Peterborough also offers baked goods, meats, farm fresh ice cream, locally made cheese, fresh lobster and steamers. Find maple syrup, pickles, jams & jellies at the Warner Area Farmer's Market. The Amherst Farmers Market also features grass fed meat, and baked goods. And the Wilton Farmers' Market boasts fair trade locally roasted coffee, French treats, teas, honey, maple syrup, and more in addition to local produce!
The farmer's market attraction doesn't end with food! In addition to produce, tasty foods, and entertainment, many other New Hampshire crafters, artists, and artisans feature handcrafted goods, and other products at local farmer's markets. The New Boston Farmers Market also features yarn/wool, dog treats, kettle korn, and other handcrafts, The Nashua Farmers Market includes goat milk products, and crafts, and The Wilton Farmers' Market offers salves, fabric arts, jewelry, face painting, and more!
No matter the season, there is always a farmer's market open somewhere in New Hampshire! Visit with local farmers at your area farmer's market, and feel good about supporting local agriculture, art, and crafting!
