Independence Day is coming, and with it comes fireworks, family time, and Fourth of July cookouts! We have gathered the best July 4th crafts, quotes, and recipes to help you make the most of the patriotic holiday! Plan some activity time with kiddos and make some Yankee Doodle necklaces; red, white, and blue paint is a staple for just about any craft this time of year. When you're preparing your favorite dishes for a family gathering, remember: A star cookie cutter goes a long way. Stamp stars out of lunch meats, cheeses, fruits, veggies, and more for a thematic twist on your holiday foods!

Fourth of July Crafts

Yankee Doodle Necklaces

A fun twist on the end of the Yankee Doodle song!

Materials
Dry macaroni
Non-toxic paint (red, white, blue)
String
Glitter (optional)

Directions
1. Paint macaroni with red, white, & blue paint, add glitter if desired
2. Let macaroni dry
3. String macaroni necklace!

Handprint Flags

A sweet, patriotic keepsake!

Materials
Tan construction paper
Popsicle stick
Non-toxic paint (red, white, blue)
Glue
Silver star stickers

Directions
1. Paint your child's palm blue
2. Paint fingers with alternating red and white (exclude thumb).
3. Press hand down onto construction paper.
4. Let paint dry.
5. Trim paper into a rectangle around the handprint.
6. Glue popsicle stick onto the back of the paper like a flag pole.
7. Add star stickers to the blue palm print.

3D Stars and Stripes Table Topper

A patriotic decoration for your BBQ spread!

Materials
Cardboard
Non-toxic paint (red, white, blue)
Scissors

Directions
1. Cut two, equal, cardboard stars
2. Paint one star blue with a white star pattern (both sides)
3. Paint the other star with horizontal red and white stripes.
4. Let paint dry.
5. Cut a slit from the base of the blue star to the middle.
6. Cut a slit from the top of the red star to the middle.
7. Slide the blue star over the red star using the slits to fit them together.
