For reasonably priced wintertime fun, check out Mount Prospect

Sometimes it’s tough to find inexpensive things to do this time of year, especially when it comes to hitting the ski slopes. Many one-day lift tickets can cost upwards of $75 and when you factor in a family of four or more, it can get pretty expensive (not to mention food, travel or lodging expenses).

Correspondent reporter Peggy Newland recently found a great bargain at Mount Prospect and shared her experience and day of fun in the Great North Woods. Mount Prospect is located at the base of Weeks State Park in Lancaster, NH and is perfect for those looking for something different and low key. There’s nothing fancy about Mount Prospect: no rentals, ski packages or dining options and there’s a tow rope instead of a chair lift.

Mount Prospect may only be open for a couple of hours on certain days of the week but the upside is that a couple hours of fun in the snow will only cost you $7 for adults and $5 for kids. With all the money you’re not spending on a lift ticket or food in a cafeteria, you can go more frequently or you can treat yourself to an overnight stay at a nearby hotel or resort. Our reporter, Peggy, spent the evening at the Mountain View Grand in Whitefield and from the sounds of it, had an amazing time.
