Getting up close and personal with NH’s own Josh Logan
Wicked Wine and Brew Fest is being held from 2-6pm on Saturday, September 11 at Mel's Funway Park in Litchfield. This event features wineries and breweries from every corner of New England and is gearing up to be the biggest wine and beer festival in southern NH. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Josh Logan will be playing from 3-6pm.
To get excited for the biggest wine and beer event of the fall we took a minute to catch up with Josh and get to know him a little better.
You've won a couple awards from the Hippo and NH Magazine and were named one of Manchester's hardest working musicians. Why are these awards so important to you?
These awards may be "just local awards" in some people's eyes, but they're important to me because it means my friends, my employers, my fans and my City all appreciate and reward the hard work that goes into what I do. I love what I do. This is it, it's my full time job and obsession ... for people to recognize me as one of the hardest working musicians in this region means I'm doing something right and I like that.
What do you think makes you stand out from the rest of the local musicians?
Simply put ... I'm different. I bring the soul, I add the funky vibes to standard rock and I steer slightly away from the repetitive mainstream crap that everyone knows the lyrics to, but can't find the meaning behind.
What's your dream gig? Any particular venue you'd love to play at?
I don't know ... a gig with Stevie Wonder anywhere in this world! Although I am very lucky to have experienced stages across the US, Canada and Iceland ... a gig with Stevie Wonder would be the icing on the cake for me. It couldn't get any better than that!
What's your biggest musical achievement to date?
Being chosen to be 1 of the top 15 contestants from around the world to compete on CBS' Rockstar: Supernova.
Do you have a favorite show or favorite venue?
I've played so many venues, but I'd have to say my favorites are my local supporters like Murphy's Taproom, Fody's Tavern, The Derryfield, TJ's, several venues in Boston.
A lot of aspiring musicians head to Boston or NYC but you've stuck it out in the Granite State and stayed close to home...any particular reason?
I do play quite a bit in Boston, but this is home ... I don't necessarily believe that I have to live in a more popular area to do what I love and make it work for me.
WWB event benefits the NH Food Bank. Why is the Food Bank an important organization? Have you worked with them before?
I have worked with the NH Food Bank a few times before and I'm so happy to have done so. I hope we can all sympathize with what it is like to fall upon hard times ... NH's Food Bank is a vital organization assisting those experiencing these hard times and I believe it's one of the best examples of hope.
You've played a variety of benefit events, why is playing for charity events important to you?
We're talking about the people who support me, who always have supported me. It's my way of giving back, of paying it forward. Music is the great communicator, it speaks to everyone and it brings people together and it should be used to raise awareness.
Since WWB is all about wine and beer, are you a wine or beer drinker?
Both. While I prefer beer more often, mostly Guinness, I do drink wine occasionally. Red.
Are there any particular wines or beers you're looking forward to trying?
I'm hoping to try Jewell Towne Vineyards South Hampton Red, I've heard good things. Mostly I'm looking forward to all the breweries though, love trying different brews. Hawaiian brews? Crazy!
When you're not playing music, what do you enjoy doing?
Time with family and friends, as that is usually limited. Basketball. Video games, kind of a tech geek too. Booking more shows!
Do you have any hobbies or non-musical talents?
Music is too much of a full time gig for me to have many hobbies, though I would love to give acting a try.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
As long as I'm still playing music, it doesn't really matter.
