Things to do in NH this weekend

Friday, January 14, 2011

I am excited about several of the events this weekend in New Hampshire because some of them do not require I be cold to have fun. I understand that as a New Hampshirite I am supposed to be accustomed to cold weather, I am not. I prefer to be nice and warm.

For those of you, and there are many, who love the crisp winter air and the outdoor activities that abound in NH this time of year, visit NH.com/skiing to find out what is happening on our ski slopes . You can even enter to win free and discounted lift tickets! Also, be sure to check out Winterfest at the Balsams, Maplefest at Gunstock and Independence Weekend at Loon. If your not a skier and just like to get outdoors in the winter you might consider volunteering to help Manchester's wildlife by taking a wildlife monitoring class at the Amoskeag Fishways or attending the Old-Fashioned Winter days in Enfield.

I am considering staying warm this weekend by attending one of the many stage productions throughout the state including, The Hobbit and Rumors in Manchester, Amadeus and Streetcar Named Desire in Portsmouth, White Christmas in Lebanon or Honk in Rollinsford.

If theatre is not your thing how about either the Macaroni and Cheese Bake Off , in Concord, or the wine tastings held in Lee or New Castle.

In the sporting world the UNH Men's Ice Hockey game vs Dartmouth is a must see! I'm looking forward to the Motorcycles, Midgets and Mayhem Tour in Salem on Saturday and the Meet and Greet with Shawn Thornton in Manchester on Sunday.
