Ice Skating on the rise in NH!
Wednesday, January 1, 2014
Happy New Year, New Hampshire! Today is the last day of winter break. Tomorrow we will settle back into our old routines and the New Year.
If you're looking for some family fun on this last vacation day, check out our Free Things To Do Page for fabulous, low or no-cost events and activities around the state!
Ice Skating has grown in popularity over the past few years, and has risen to one of our top seasonal searches. Whether it's your first time out or you perform seamless axle jumps and twirls with ease, spending a day out on the ice can somehow take the chill out of the season.
Skating is a perfect remedy for cabin fever during the frigid NH winter. The quick, calorie burning activity is fun and engaging, and warms your muscles better than a brisk walk, so it takes the edge off of those wintry winds! Ice skating as we know it now came to America in the 1900's from Europe. It was around this time that the skate blades were being made as part of the shoe, rather than a separate strapped-on piece.
If you're looking for ice rinks in your area, visit our Snow-Fun Page and find a rink near you on our interactive map! We have a list of both indoor and outdoor skating rinks in New Hampshire! The Snow Fun page also includes information on sledding hills, sleigh rides, and more seasonal fun!
