Fun Word Game: Holiday Carol Trivia
Wednesday, December 7, 2011
Test your vocabulary and your holiday song knowledge with this fun trivia game!
The rules are pretty simple (it's the words that are hard!) In round 1 read each clue and try to figure out what holiday song title is being referenced. For example, if the clue is Flicker, flicker, small heavenly body, simply replace the words in the clue with synonyms to a popular song (Twinkle, Twinkle, little star). Easy, right? Round 2 gets a little tougher. Instead of song titles the clues reference popular lines from holiday songs. The hint example is Similar to crystallized carbon in the upper atmosphere ... when we replace the words with synonyms again we get Like a diamond in the sky ... from "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star." Make sure you name the line and the song it comes from!
My family loves playing this kind of game. Last year we played Dickens' A Christmas Carol trivia! It's a great way to get together, laugh, and enjoy the seasonal spirit.
Grab a dictionary, some friends, and maybe some egg nog (if you're home) and take a stab at some of these clues! Leave your guesses in the comments section below - the answers list will be published Thursday morning!
