Holiday Things to Do in NH this Weekend

Thursday, December 22, 2011

Winter has begun, officially (unlike the fake winter we got in October)! The winter holidays are upon us with more to come this weekend. The end of this week is, of course, predominantly a fantastic opportunity to spend some time with family and friends. Many stores will close and the events calendar is sparse. However, if you are looking for something to do with our out-of-town guests, NH will not turn you away. There are some events scheduled for Saturday, Christmas Eve.

Enjoy some festive music, food and dancing for free at the Queen City Ballroom Christmas Eve Open House , or, take the younger ones over to Charmingfare Farm for cocoa, train rides and bonfire at Santa's Big Party . The Milford Oval will also light the night with celebration on Saturday evening.

Enjoy some tasty winter recipes on our Snow-Fun page, maybe even make your own holiday egg nog! Our holiday song trivia question and answer sheets are also available to print for some festive-fun! However and whatever you celebrate, NH.com hopes your season is and remains full of magic and light. Have a safe and happy holiday season!

Christmas Eve on the Oval
Saturday, December 24
Milford, NH

Why not pause for a moment, step aside from the frenzy, and do something traditional this year? Bring your family to the Milford Oval on Christmas Eve in Milford, NH, to join with your friends and neighbors for a traditional, outdoor Christmas Carol event. Make this Christmas one that your family will always remember as we recall the true meaning amidst the glimmer of lights and the sound of voices on the historic Milford Oval. The Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols was first held on Christmas Eve 1918 in London, England as a celebration over the end on the 'Great War.' It has remained and is virtually unchanged these past 92 years! Complimentary hot drinks and refreshments will be served for both young and old to help fend off the New England weather!
