Food for NH on Facebook

Monday, January 9, 2012

It has never been so easy to give back to our New Hampshire community.

Heightened volunteerism is a very common New Year's resolution. This year, The New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority hopes to help New Hampshirites keep that goal.

Through the end of January 2012, every new "like" received on the NH Housing Authority Facebook Page equals a food donation to the New Hampshire Food Bank! NH Housing's goal is 500 cans of food donated by January 31st, 2012.

Food Bank Executive Director, Mel Gosselin, says the Food Bank is very grateful for this social media initiative, especially at this time of year, "our inventory is depleted after the holidays; so, "Click to Fight Hunger" is timely and will help us maintain our food supply to New Hampshire agencies during winter months when demand is high."

By Friday, January 6th, the page had received 80 new likes, which means 80 cans of food to fight hunger in New Hampshire! The initiative is well on its way toward it's 500 can goal, but they could use a boost! I hope that every NH.com fan reading this blog will take the time to click onto the NH Housing Authority Facebook Page and "Click to Fight Hunger."

The New Hampshire Food Bank is a New Hampshire Catholic Charities Program and is the only food bank in The Granite State. The Food Bank is responsible for distributing more than 7 million pounds of donated, surplus food to more than 400 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, day care centers and senior citizen homes annually, affecting the lives of more than 130,000 New Hampshire citizens.

New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority is a self-supporting, public benefit corporation assisting low- and moderate-income persons with obtaining housing. To date the organization has helped more than 38,500 families purchase their own homes.
