Chocolate spoons: It's always nice to give a sweet treat on Valentine's Day, and anyone who loves chocolate will enjoy this pretty gift. You will need about 10 plastic spoons, 1/2 c. chocolate chips, sprinkles, conversation hearts, ribbon, and plastic wrap. Melt the chocolate in 15-second increments in a microwave-safe bowl. Stir after 15 seconds and continue this process until chocolate is melted. Use a teaspoon to ladle melted chocolate onto the plastic spoons, then shake sprinkles and add conversation hearts. Put in fridge and let harden, then, add plastic wrap and bow, as desired.
Crayon stained glass: Do you have lots of dull crayons in your house that the kids refuse to use? This is a great craft to get those crayons sharp again and use the shavings for a Valentine's Day project. Get your crayons, pencil sharpener, wax paper, newspaper, and iron together. We found that a pencil sharpener works much better than a crayon sharpener at sharpening the crayons. Lay out the wax paper and sharpen the colors of crayons you want to use. Depending on the quantity of wax shavings you have, you can either fold the wax paper over or just lay another sheet on top. Place another sheet of newspaper on your ironing board to protect the surface, then lay your wax paper with the crayon shavings on top of that, and add a final layer of newspaper (to protect the surface of the iron). Set the iron to the lowest setting, then, iron over the paper for a few seconds. Lift the newspaper off, and cut the wax paper into various heart shapes. Hang from a string on a window and enjoy the pretty view.
Yarn hearts: This easy project requires only 2 items: yarn and floral wire or pipe cleaners. Thin yarns work best for the pipe cleaners. If you use thicker floral wire, you can go bulkier with your yarn, and it will be easier to hold the heart shape. Simply form a heart shape with your wire or pipe cleaner, then, twist the bottom where the 2 ends connect. Wrap one end of the yarn around the center point of the wire and knot. Next, take the yarn over to one side, then wrap around the wire, then bring it over to another side, wrap again and continue this pattern until you have as much yarn as you'd like on your heart form. Leave enough length to create a loop to hang it, tie off and you're done!
