It hasn't looked much like winter yet, but winter festivals are still celebrating the season with lots of community and family fun!

Check out this week's winter carnivals in Keene, Newport, Laconia, Whitefield, and Claremont!

The Merrimack and North Woods regions are also in the winter spirit with an Ice Fishing Tournament in Merrimack, NH on Saturday at 7am, and a Vintage Snowmobile Race in Errol Saturday at 10am.

For an educational spin this President's Day weekend, why not stop over to the American Independence Museum in Exeter for the Happy Birthday President Washington celebration! Learn how to dance the minuet, listen to 18th century music, and enjoy crafts and refreshments! Special prizes are offered to children dressed as George or Martha Washington!

Break away from the cold winter doldrums and have "fun in the sun" at a beach-themed women's night out, while supporting the New Hampshire Food Bank. There will be a raffle, refreshments, and entertainment. Come dressed in your favorite tropical, "beachy" attire (e.g. sundresses, etc.).

There will be 18 prizes in two different fish categories Pickerel and Perch. In adult, juvenile, and 6 and under age groups there will also be hourly prizes as well as raffle drawings at the end of the day. This is a nonprofit event where all the proceeds benefit the Horseshoe Fish and Game Club scholarship fund where two $1000.00 scholarships are awarded each year to graduating high school seniors going on to college.

Parents' Night Out Babysitting

The John Stark Junior Class is offering low cost babysitting for children ages four and up. While you are out on a night on the town for a Valentine's celebration, your children will be babysat by John Stark Junior Class leaders and play games, do arts and crafts and watch G rated movies. Pizza and juice will be provided for dinner and popcorn for snack. This is a fundraiser for the junior class prom. Come to the front door of the school between five and seven pm.
