Photo Opportunities Abound On Fun Fall NH Road Trip: Meet Pumpkin People & Scarecrow Families
Wednesday, October 17, 2012
New Hampshire leaves have turned, fall is undeniable now.
As temperatures dip into the cool fifties, take some time this week to bundle in a sweatshirt, grab some cocoa or cider, and take a scenic trip through some of The Granite State. Join leaf-peepers who have come from all over! Meet a new friend, meet a scarecrow, meet a pumpkin!
New Hampshire welcomes many out-of-state foliage-fanatics this time of year, as well as returning pumpkin and scarecrow friends. The Pumpkin People returned to Jackson, NH area at the start of October, and Grantham, NH happily receives scarecrow friends again!
Jackson's Pumpkin People will stay in town through Sunday, October 21st. For the first time in 25 years, Conway and North Conway businesses are hosting the clever gourd-faced displays as well! This year's self-guided Pumpkin People tour includes 74 host businesses with displays! You will see pumpkin people doing things you never thought possible; cooking, frightening you, taking photos of you, just staring from a tree, rocking, talking, driving, being tall, short, chunky, skinny, eating, skiing, running, diving, singing and so much more! You can vote for your favorites with "People's Choice" Ballots, available at participating host properties! Be sure to stop in to participating businesses, thank them for their hard work, and share with them just how much you enjoyed their display. Tour maps are available for printing from the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce Web site, or at participating properties and businesses. Some participating hosts include: Story Land, Backcountry Bakery, Carter Notch Inn, J-Town Deli & Country Store, Bernerhof Inn, Attitash Mountain, Riverside Inn, Scarecrow Pub, and many more!!!
But the White Mountains isn't the only NH Region accommodating smiling seasonal displays. The Grantham Scarecrows gathered on October 8th, and will stick around through Saturday, November 3rd. Forty-two straw-stuffed friends are posed for photos along Route 10. Twenty-two or them are dressed by Grantham school children, the other 20 are owned by Grantham businesses.
Bring your family and friends to meet some of New Hampshire's fall-families on display for your viewing pleasure.
