Drink Up At 10-Day Beer Week Festival
Wednesday, February 27, 2013
There are still six days left to join in the 4th Annual Portsmouth Beer Week festivities! The celebration began last Saturday, February 23rd and continues through Monday, March 4th. The 10-day event series is once again produced by 2Beerguys.com and Seacoast Beverage Lab, along with a team of local businesses. Portsmouth Beer Week events will be held at various Portsmouth locations through Monday.
Beyond a stated "love for beer," the Beer Week goal is to increase Portsmouth's footprint on the national craft beer map. Local breweries (including Portsmouth Brewery, Smuttynose, Redhook, and Throwback) and some regional brewers are providing some unique craft beer offerings, as well as beer-centric events, including: tours, tappings, tastings, beer & wine dinners, and more!

Whenever possible, he would go out and find ingredients from local organic farmers for his homebrews. It was a defining day when Jon discovered that you don't need to sacrifice flavor for sustainability, but that better ingredients actually made the beer more delicious. Naturally, we recommend rounding out your visit to Smuttynose with a trip to our sister company, the Portsmouth Brewery, New Hampshire's original brewpub, located in downtown Portsmouth, less than five miles away.
There is no cost to take a tour of our facility. Instead of charging a fee, we ask that you to make a voluntary $2 minimum donation to one of two non-profit organizations selected by our staff and listed on our donation box. If you will be bringing your children with you as you tour Smuttynose, please keep them with you at all times. Also, we urge you to wear appropriate footwear, avoiding sandals, open-toed shoes or flip-flops. We've got fittings, hoses, puddles, cleaning chemicals, hot things, cold things and heavy machinery. These are all interesting things but we'd much rather tell you about them than have you experience them first hand. You're better off experiencing the final product - Smuttynose beer (unless of course you're under 21).

Cheese, Chocolate and Beer Pairing @ Throwback Brewery
1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
4:00 pm - 5:30 pm
NH Chocolate + NH Cheese + Throwback Beer Pairing Chocolate plates from last year. So yummy! My personal favorite event that we held last year was the local chocolate, local cheese, and Throwback beer pairing at our brewery. We had an amazing time stuffing our faces (gracefully, of course) with mouthwatering Winnipesaukee Chocolates and cheeses from local farms, and, of course, meeting new friends as well! Luckily, our customers also told us that they had a great time. As a result, we decided to hold this event again this year - coming up soon on
Sunday, March 3rd. For those of you that attended the event last year, you can expect a similar experience, but with a few different cheeses and beers. For those of you that didn't attend, here's the high level of what you can expect:
- Five samples of our beer (including a few fun ones!), paired with
- Good-sized chunks (~1-oz each) of cheese from NH creameries, plus
- Truffles and other chocolate from Winnipesaukee Chocolates, plus
- A mini beer milkshake of my design, that will pair nicely with the chocolate, and
- An in-depth tour of the brewery with Annette Lee - our head brewer.
- Cost: $25 dollars per person - payment due when you show up for your session.
How to join in the fun: Please fill in the contact form. If this doesn't work for you for whatever reason, feel free to give us a call at 603-379-2317 to reserve your spot.
