Welcome to the first Spring weekend in 2014! Despite the snow, the sun is fighting strong. In just a few days, I swear the sky is bluer, the air is warmer, and the birds are more abundant! If you're starting your spring-cleaning, check out these money-saving green-cleaning!

This weekend marks the official Maple Sugar season in New Hampshire! Through many sugar houses have already opened their doors, this weekend offers many maple celebrations for the official season-start!

Take a guided tour at Nature's Sweet Secret Sugar House, Saturday and Sunday, in Goffstown. Learn tapping techniques, and bring the family for the whole maple sugar experience with wagon rides, tasting and more at Charmingfare Farm's Maple Express Saturday and Sunday, in Candia. And enjoy maple syrup sundaes, hayrides and a race to gather sap at the 15th Annual Horse-Drawn Sap Gathering Contest! on Saturday, in Keene. The fundraiser is scheduled from 9 p.m. to close Saturday, March 22 at a new location this year - The Derryfield Restaurant in Manchester. The event will feature DJ Sean O'Brien spinning tunes all night on the dance floor. Other highlights include raffles, merchandise, derby beer bucket specials with beer and shot proceeds going to the local roller derby league. The Season Opener party will allow fans to meet and greet members of NHRD on skates. The night promises to be one full of derby fun fans and the public won't want to miss.

Wine and Cheese Tasting Social

Our free weekly wine and cheese socials generally attract from 40-80 wine lovers from the local area and northern Massachusetts. At each event, sommelier and shop owner Svetlana Yanushkevich will sample from 6-8 different wines that are paired with artisan cheeses. Our events are casual and friendly and attract a wide range of people from wine novices to wine connoisseurs. Many clients form friendships here and look forward to their weekly get-togethers.

Join us for "Push Ups for Pease," a fundraiser to support the family of Ed Pease. Pease, of Epping, was a Stratham middle school teacher who passed away suddenly in January. For each push up completed, Ironman Fitness of Exeter will donate ten cents to benefit Pease's family. Raffle prizes and refreshments included.

15th Annual Horse-Drawn Sap Gathering Contest!
Keene, NH

A dozen or more teamsters and their horses race on our course to collect "sap" as quickly as possible. Visit our working sugar house to see how syrup is made. There will be food for sale, maple syrup sundaes, and hayrides! We will also be running several free shuttle buses between the farm and Alumni Field adjacent to Keene High School every 5-10 minutes, once parking spaces fill up at the farm.

This is a great way to get in shape, burn some calories and have fun! Hula hooping develops core strength, tones and sculpts all the major muscle groups of the body and is great aerobic workout.
