Address: Route 3, Franconia, NH 03580
This granite "profile" was one of the most famous natural landmarks in the state until it slid from the mountain in May of 2003. The Old Man's head measured 40 feet from chin to forehead and was made up of five ledges. Nature carved the profile thousands of years ago. The natural sculpture was 1,200 feet above Profile Lake. It is still possible to view the remains of the Old Man, and some explanatory material is available at the viewing site.
