Talk about vision! Beaver Brook's 1,730-acre reservation includes a demonstration farm, award-winning tree farm, self-guided trails and an education center that offers everything from art exhibits to camp weeks. All of this is due to the foresight and generosity of a few activists and two major land donors: Hollis Nichols, who with his naturalist friend Jeff Smith started the ball rolling more than three decades ago, and Harlan Burns, who added his Milford farm to the reservation. Stop at the office at Maple Hill Farm for information and maps of the more than 30 miles of trails through woods, fields and wetlands.
