As you drive the path to Cathedral Ledge, you'll see experienced climbers scaling the mountain to the same destination. The name of the ledge comes from early climbers who claimed to see the shape of a cathedral in the cliffs. Besides the fun of watching the climbers, you can swim in the lake and enjoy the convenience of both a beach and bathhouse. You'll get dramatic valley views of the Saco River. There's also an Echo Lake in Franconia State Park. Activities: Swimming, picnickingAmenities: At the park amenities include a bathhouse and picnic tables. A scenic trail around the lake provides great views which tower over the lake.Day Use Fee: $4 for adults; $2 for children ages 6-11; children ages 5 and under and NH residents age 65 and over are admitted free.Operation Schedule: Echo Lake Park is open weekends only starting Memorial Day weekend (May 24 - 26), then full-time from June 21 through September 1, 2008, weather permitting. Facilities are open from 9:00am - 6:00pm, and gates close at 8:00pm.Check upon arrival for the lifeguard schedule.Acreage: 118 acresWaterfront: Echo LakeNumber of Campsites: NonePets: Pets are not permitted in the park.
