New Hampshire's only President may have been born in the hinterlands, but he was no stranger to the life of the upper class even before he was elected to power. His boyhood home, built in 1804, reflects his family's affluence in its impressive construction, elegant furnishings and hand-stenciled walls. There's even a ballroom upstairs that's as long as the house! The house is a National Historic Landmark and is managed as a state park. Hours: The house is open July through August, daily, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., weekends only during June and Sept. and July 4 and Labor Day, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.Prices: Admission for adults is $2.50, while children younger than 18 get in free.
