Sandy Point Discovery Center, Tidewater Farm Rd., GreenlandThis huge (more than 5,000 acres) preserve is a treasure. In winter it's home to bald eagles, pileated woodpeckers, mergansers and many other more common birds. It hosts a year-round population of the non-native, beautiful mute swan. Several threatened plant species, including lady-slipper, are hanging on to existence here. Adams Point offers several places to park, walk and bird-watch as well as launch a boat. At the end of the point is U.N.H.'s Jackson Estuarine Lab, where you can park and wander through fields or observe the bay from the dock. Sandy Point Discovery Center includes a self-guided nature trail and educational exhibits (including a very popular touch tank). The trails and boardwalk here are handicapped-accessible.
