Souhegan Valley Chorus Seeking New Members
Souhegan Valley Chorus (SVC) invites interested singers to join the chorus for the start of its new season. The first two open rehearsals will be on Tuesday, September 14 and 21 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Milford High School Music Room. Rehearsals for the remainder of the fall will be at the Milford Middle School.
SVC is a community chorus of 50 plus members from the Souhegan Valley and surrounding towns singing a repertoire of pop to light classical music. The chorus, now entering its 31st year, is known for its creative and entertaining concerts and excellence of musical performance. It presents two concerts a year and performs several mini-concerts at a Milford senior housing residence. Director, Jennifer K. Edody, is choral director at Milford Senior High School, musical director for various shows with Riverbend Youth Company at the Souhegan Valley Boys and Girls Club, and directs the annual Mont Vernon “Messiah” performances. Pianist, Laura Kennedy, an exceptional, internationally recognized chamber musician and solo performer, accompanies the chorus.
The chorus has featured varied themes in its programming over the 30 years it has been singing together and entertaining area audiences – Broadway, the American West, Music from the Movies, Americana and more. For the upcoming winter season, director Jennifer Erdody has selected music that celebrates the holidays with a mix of traditional and new music.
SVC is open without audition to anyone high school age or older who is interested in singing choral music. Singers bring a wide range of abilities and experience, so anyone who loves to sing is encouraged to come give the chorus a try at one of the two open rehearsals on September 14 and 21.
Visit the chorus website at www.wolaver.org/SVC, or call membership director Jean Desany at 673-7302 for more information about joining.
