Noises Off: The madcap backstage comedy where everyone gets caught in the act
Tuesday, January 24, 2012
Nashua, NH - Peacock Players, New Hampshire’s premiere award winning youth theatre, proudly presents Noises Off, the ingenious madcap backstage comedy by Michael Frayn, at the Janice B. Streeter Theater, located at 14 Court Street, in Nashua, NH, for one weekend only in February.
Noises Off follows the on and off-stage antics of an acting troupe as they stumble from bumbling dress rehearsal to disastrous closing night. Everything that can go wrong does, as actors desperately try to hang on to their lines, their performances and the furniture. Add a slippery plate of sardines and many slamming doors, and you have the most hilarious backstage farce ever written.
Noises Off, the classic farce by Tony Award-winning author Michael Frayn, is not one play but two: simultaneously a traditional British farce, Nothing On, and the hysterical backstage “drama” that develops as the on-stage production falls apart entirely. In the end, the two plots can be kept separate no longer, and coalesce into a single nervous breakdown.
The select nine person cast features Tyler G. Stanley (of Nashua) as director Llyod Dallas, Bailie de Lacy (of Hollis) as Dotty Otley, Nick Page (of Hollis) as Garry LeJeune, Miranda Mail (of Nashua) as Brooke Ashton, Danny Shea (of Nashua) as Frederick Fellowes, Dawniella Sinder (of Dunstable) as Belinda Belair, Alex Giggey (of Dunstable) as Selsdon Mowbray, Taylor Morrow (of Nashua) as stage manager Tim Allgood, and Trisha Mahoney (of Nashua) as assistant stage manager Poppy Norton-Taylor. The Peacock Players Mainstage production will be directed by Peacock Players Artistic Director, and Broadway veteran, Keith Weirich.
“Noises Off is irresistible, riotously funny and remarkably ingenious,” says Weirich. “It is one of those rare stage plays that provides the perfect entertainment – a perfect blend of laughter, sophisticated simplicity and fast-paced madcap action.”
The Peacock Players Mainstage production will be sponsored in part by Tide Mill Studio, Costumes of Nashua, and the Telegraph ENCORE.
Please note that Noises Off is rated PG. Parental discretion is advised.
Noises Off marks the fourth production of Peacock Players 36th Annual Mainstage season. The award-winning youth theatre will next present Disney’s Winnie The Pooh in March, and Disney’s Beauty And The Beast in May.
