Tuesday, May 15, 2012
CONCORD, NH, May 2, 2012—The Chris Robinson Brotherhood has joined the already impressive roster for the first annual Granite State Music Festival. The festival takes over New Hampshire’s capital city June 23 and 24, 2012. The Brotherhood owns the stage on the afternoon of Sunday the 24th.. Chris Robinson and crew specialize in bringing bluesy, groovy rock, and the perfect vibe for an outdoor summer event. Tickets are on-sale now, with a limited amount of early bird tickets available at the festival website, granitestatemusicfest.org.
The rest of the roster? Thus far: New Hampshire headliners Groovechild, NH legends Truffle, the Ron Noyes Band, the Crunchy Western Boys, Bräsbe, kid-friendly favorites Ben Rudnick and Friends, Donkilo! Afro Funk Orkestra, the Jonathan Lorentz Trio, the Chris Peters Band, Dusty Gray, Tonkin Toys, Redwing Blackbird, Local Blend, the Ghost Dinner Band, Gnarlemagne, Mike Morris and the Strings and Things Country Band. The bands come from all over New Hampshire, and the musical genres range from rock to jazz, from Americana to jam, from indie-folk to afro-funk.
This year’s festival is the first of what Festival Director Scott Solsky intends to be an annual event to support the musicians of New Hampshire. In support of that goal, the festival has just received approval of its 501(c)3 status from the IRS, establishing it officially as a charity. The charitable beneficiary of this year’s festival is the Concord Community Music School, largest employer of musicians in New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont. The more tickets are sold, the more money goes to the music school. Each ticket represents one great weekend as well as a vote of support for an important cultural resource in our state and region.
The festival’s offerings will be rounded out with the participation of food vendors and an artisan marketplace.
